    Three local players garner All-State honors from the prestigious Cal-Hi Sports publication. Pacific Grove lineman Michael Laredo is named to the Small School All-State First Team; Greenfield running back Fachon Clair is named to the Small School All-State Second Team; Palma linebacker Eric Sobotka is named to the Underclass All-State Second Team.

Gilroy remains at #13 with a Large School semifinal appearance, and Seaside makes the final grade at #14 with a Small School title game appearance.

    WEEK 10 NOTES

    Former S.L.V. standout Jordan Beck (class of 2001), an All-American Linebacker for Cal Poly, has been selected to play in the 2005 East-West Shrine game at SBC Park on January 15, 2005. Quad-league area teams have won 32 CCS football titles.

Monterey drops one spot to #15 with a 28-16 victory over North Monterey County.

  • Big Week for Area Receivers - 10/27/2004
    WEEK 7 NOTES

    Eight different receivers hauled in 80 or more yards worth of receptions in Week 7. The San Benito defense limited North Salinas to 6 first downs and 47 yards of total offense in a 41-0 shutout victory. Gilroy joins Salinas and San Benito as the only quad-league area teams to defeat Palma in the last 15 years.

    Palma is one of six teams to officially petition into the new Open playoff division. After a week 5 that saw only 4 quad-league players rush for 100 or more yards, 13 local ball carriers cracked the century mark in week 6.

    Carmel and Greenfield combined for 1005 yards of offense in a 62-39 Padre victory. Getting off to a fast start: Gilroy has scored 70 1st quarter points. The T-CAL is now a combined 12-3 vs. quad-league area opponents.

  • Chieftains knock off Pac-5 Power Arroyo Grande - 10/2/2004

    The Arroyo Grande Eagles and the Palma Chieftains of Salinas both entered tonight's game hoping to bounce back from losses a week earlier. The Chieftains entered the game ranked 17th in the State while the Eagles came in ranked 64th in So. Cal. The Chieftains lead byQB Chad Bozzo took control of the game early going up 10-0 before the Eagles made a comeback to tie the game up 10-10 at halftime.

    Gilroy running back Justin Sweeney has jumped out to the early area rushing lead, racking up 354 yards and 5 touchdowns on just 36 carries. It has been a rough start for local teams vs. the always-tough West Catholic Athletic league. Area teams are 0-3 vs. the elite league, and have been outscored 94-7 in three lopsided losses.
