Gigi Rossi collected three hits in four at bats, as Salinas Varsity Cowboys defeated Liberty Varsity Lions 4-1 on Saturday. Rossi hit a solo home run to left field in the third inning, doubled in the fifth inning, and singled in the sixth inning.

Abi Jones struck out 12 batters on the day. The pitcher also allowed two hits and one run over seven innings while walking one.

A single by Jones on the sixth pitch of the at-bat put Salinas Varsity Cowboys on the board in the bottom of the first.

Salinas Varsity Cowboys added one run in the second after Demarie Fernandez singled to center field.

Salinas Varsity Cowboys scored one run in the bottom of the third on a solo home run to left field by Rossi.

Kate Skinner took the loss for Liberty Varsity Lions. The starter went six innings, giving up four runs on 10 hits, striking out eight and walking three.

Salinas Varsity Cowboys piled up 10 hits in the game. Ava Thompson collected two hits for Salinas Varsity Cowboys in three at bats. Thompson stole two bases.

Kelsie Skaggs and Taylor Jennings were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected one hit for Liberty Varsity Lions while hitting back-to-back. Skaggs led Liberty Varsity Lions with one run batted in. The shortstop went 1-for-3 on the day. Liberty Varsity Lions were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Jewel Cooper had the most chances in the field with 10.
