Aptos built an early lead and held off a late push Tuesday to defeat North Monterey County 7–5 after the Condors nearly erased a five-run deficit.
The Mariners struck first in the opening inning when Sofia Marin singled in a run and Nova Neu followed with a two-run double. Aptos added to the lead in the second with another RBI double and continued to apply pressure at the plate to build their advantage.
North Monterey County mounted a comeback late, scoring three runs to cut the lead to two, but Aptos managed to hold on in the final innings.
Mya Najera-White went the distance in the circle, striking out eight across seven innings. Marin led the offense with three hits, while Neu and Ella Jacobs each drove in two runs as Aptos finished with 12 hits in the victory.
