San Lorenzo Valley built an early lead and held on Tuesday to defeat Pacific Grove 5–3.
The Cougars struck quickly in the first inning when Grace Purtscher singled down the left field line to bring in a run, and Skylar Cloyd was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to force in another. San Lorenzo Valley added two more in the second behind RBI singles from Sophia Sarmiento and Audrey Jouglet.
Purtscher earned the win in the circle, allowing three runs on five hits over five innings. Cloyd closed the door in relief with two scoreless innings, giving up no hits while striking out two.
Jouglet anchored the offense, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs, while the Cougars showed patience at the plate with nine walks, including three from Ida Robertello. San Lorenzo Valley also played clean defense with no errors, turning a double play behind a steady effort from Elie Colby, who led the team with nine defensive chances.
