Aptos shook off an early deficit to defeat Pacific Grove 11-5 on Saturday. Pacific Grove struck first with three runs in the opening inning and added two more in the second to take an early 5-2 lead.
Aptos answered immediately with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first to stay within reach, then took control in the fourth inning with a bases-clearing double that pushed the Mariners ahead 6-5.
The Mariners broke the game open in the fifth, scoring five runs. Sofia Marin delivered an RBI single while an error and a wild pitch helped extend the inning as Aptos pulled away.
Mya Najera-White earned the win in the circle, allowing five runs (four earned) on six hits over five innings as Aptos completed the comeback.
