| Santa Cruz Pounds Out 13 Hits But Falls 9–7 To Half Moon Bay Santa Cruz produced plenty of offense Friday, collecting 13 hits, but Half Moon Bay rallied from an early deficit to secure a 9–7 victory. The Cardinals came out strong, jumping ahead in the first inning when Rona Lewis singled to drive in two runs. Santa Cruz extended the lead to 5–0 in the second as Ellia Dunton added an RBI single to continue the early surge. Half Moon Bay chipped away before a decisive fifth inning where the Cougars scored five runs to even the game. They then took the lead in the sixth with three more runs to complete the comeback. Lewis, Izzy Fetke, and Dunton each collected three hits to pace the Santa Cruz lineup, while Mila Marini, Lewis, and Dunton each drove in two runs as the Cardinals kept pressure on the bases throughout the game. |
