Early Hillsdale Rally Too Much As Gilroy Falls 6–2

Gilroy couldn’t overcome an early surge from Hillsdale on Friday, falling 6–2 at the Salinas Sports Complex.

Hillsdale took the lead in the first inning on an error before extending the advantage in the second. Sophia Shelton drew a bases-loaded walk and Mia DeMartini followed with a three-run double to break the game open.

The Knights added another run in the third when Kayla Nolan singled down the right field line to push the lead to 6–1.

Olive Burke struck out five over five innings in the circle for Gilroy, while Jaedalyn Rhoades, Audreana Gonzalez, and Dayanara Jaimes each recorded hits for the Mustangs. Gonzalez also drove in a run as Gilroy turned a double play defensively.
