Hollister Notes and Quotes
After two games in a row with no goals scored the Balers were determined not to go into CCS with another game like those. Hollister game out with three forwards to make sure they had a good offensive threat, but it took a bit for the team to adjust to the new formation. This allowed Salinas some penetration and some good shots on goal, but Kelly Shingai did an awesome job to make sure those did not go in. Then around 10 minutes into the 1st half, the Balers were doign a better job of penetrating the Salinas defense, and finally scored in the 18th minute. Even though Hollister controlled the flow fo the game, they could not get past the tough and fast Salinas defense until just before halftime with a beautiful cross from Janessa Gillies to Sara Yamasaki making it 2-0. The Balers pretty much shut the door on Salinas with their 3rd goal, from a hand ball slapping down an outside shot to the goal, which in turn was booted into the goal but the whistle was blown so a PK had to be attempted. Captain JC Clayton made the decision to have Janessa Gillies take the shot, which she perfectly place past the diving Salinas keeper.

Now it's off to CCS.
