The Scotts Valley Falcons Girls Varsity Soccer Team played the Aptos Mariners at Aptos High. The weather was clear and the field conditions were excellent. The Mariners ladies soccer team had a record of 5 wins, 2 losses and 2 ties coming into the game. The Mariner ladies are skilled, spirited and aggressive.

The first half started with both teams trying to control the ball and initiate an attack. The Falcons scored in the 24th minute when Kelsey Baskovich fired in a shot at 30 yards after the assist from Jordin Carlson. The first half had the Falcons with 7 shots on goal while the Mariners had 3 shots on goal. The half ended with the score, Scotts Valley 1 to Aptos 0.

The second half started with both teams playing hard and with a lot of energy. The Falcons scored in the 54th minute when Brittany Kuo scored on a 30 yard free kick that was unassisted. The second half had the Mariners with 4 shots on goal while the Falcons had 2 shots on goal. The score at the end of the game was Scotts Valley 2 to Aptos 0.

The defense was once again led by freshman goalkeeper, Emily Johnson who had 7 saves during the game. The defensive backfield once again played a fantastic game by stopping the Mariner attack most of the night. The defense was led by senior captain Brittany Kuo, senior Kelsey Baskovich, sophomore Kalynn Morano and freshman Kacey Lilly.

The midfield for the Falcons controlled the tempo most of the night with crisp passes that would generate the relentless offensive attack. The midfield was led by senior captain Kailey Payne, senior Amy McDowell, junior captain Aly Bothman, senior Michelle Hunter, sophomore captain Jordin Carlson, sophomore Ranae Maloney and freshman Madison Black.

The offensive attack was persistent and was constantly on the move. The forwards were led by sophomore Emily Payne and junior Keara McCullough. Also contributing to the forward position was sophomore Taylor Rohde, sophomore Kathryn Balch and senior Riley McFall. The Falcon ladies played a hard fought game against the talented and tough Mariner ladies.
