Santa Catalina School Notes and Quotes
The Cougars opened cautiously, not sure of the level of competition in the Monterey Bay League, but it did not take long for them to settle into their game and take their opponent apart. With a few regular starters out, Kendra Hoffman stepped up to the plate and was a key player for the Cougars’ left flank. She earned four assists and one goal! Go Kendra!

Daniela and Kate fired off two goals each within the first 17 minutes. All the substitutes came in to stem the flood of goals, and it wasn’t until the 37th minute before the Cougars scored again, this time from Maddy. Maddy would have had a second but for an extremely heavy challenge in the penalty that the refs did not call. Injuring her shoulder, she had to come out, the consequences for North Monterey County being that they would have to deal with either Daniela or Kate again!

The second half saw Mary S. come out due to injury, and Sarah and Mikayla come out due to lingering cold/flu symptoms. It only took four minutes for Catalina to score again, with Daniela delivering a perfect corner to Blair. The favor was returned eight minutes later. Kendra earned her first goal in the 54th minute, winning possession and driving to goal herself! Kendra assisted Ashley in the 63rd minute, then Kate in the 64th. Finally she delivered the final pass to Eliza in the 72nd minute.

The Cougars return to action on Tuesday January 12th, travelling to Mont Vista Christian. This will be their last warm-up game before league play opens on Friday January 15th with a home game against Stevenson.

Mark your calendar for the Stevenson game! Kick-off 3:00pm. The cougars are vying for their fourth straight season of undefeated league play! Come support the best players in the MTAL!

GO COUGARS!
