On Tuesday night the San Lorenzo Valley Cougars Women's Varsity Basketball team traveled to the Borina Athletic Center to Take on the Saint Francis Central Coast Catholic Sharks. The Sharks came out running and quickly went up 16- 8 in the first quarter and finishing the half up 32 -15. The Sharks worked in all of their bench in the second half and outlasted a perky Cougar team for a final score of 63 -50. This improved the Sharks record to 4-3 to end the first half of the SCCAL season. Three Sharks underclassmen led the team in this game. Freshman Rochelle Welsh scored 18 points, including 5 of 6 from the line and one three pointer. She also hauled in 8 rebounds; Freshman Katherine Brown had 14 points, 16 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 block and Sophomore Annette Ruvalcaba scored 15 points, including one three point shot, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. Also for the Sharks Junior Nicole Smith scored 12 points, 5 assists and 3 blocks; Junior Jessica Ryan had 2 points, 4 assists, 4 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 block and Junior Renee Gonzalez had 2 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals and a block. For the Cougars Laura Lange led all scorers with 23, Allison Schmidt had 9 points and Hogan had 5 points. Gregory and Dueber fouled out in the fourth quarter for the Cougars.
