2. PALMA (5-0): The Chieftains, who defeated Alisal 28-7, are one of three undefeated teams in the Monterey Bay League. Palma plays one of those teams, Gilroy, on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

3. OAK GROVE (4-1): The Eagles cruised in a 26-0 victory over Santa Teresa, limiting the Saints to 150 yards. The Eagles play at Hill on Friday at 3:30 p.m.

4. LOS GATOS (5-0): The Wildcats have outscored their opponents 203-28, not allowing any opponent to score double-digits. Los Gatos hosts Wilcox on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

5. ALVAREZ (5-0): The Eagles, one of three unbeaten teams in the MBL, have relied heavily on a defense that has allowed a 9.8-points-per-game average. The Eagles will be tested this week against No. 10 Salinas.

6. SAN LORENZO VALLEY (5-0): The Cougars extended their streak of 35 straight league victories with a 44-0 win over Scotts Valley. San Lorenzo Valley plays at Aptos on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

7. GILROY (5-0): The Mustangs looked convincing in their 37-21 victory over Hollister. Gilroy's schedule doesn't get any easier: The Mustangs host No. 2 Palma on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

8. VALLEY CHRISTIAN (4-1): The Warriors' Yitbarek Admassu has rushed for over 100 yards in five straight games, including a 157-yard effort in a 44-0 win over Leland. Valley Christian hosts Leigh on Saturday at 3 p.m.

9. SERRA (6-0): The Padres, behind two long touchdowns from Chris Denny-Brown, defeated Bellarmine 26-7. Serra plays No. 1 Mitty on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.

10. SALINAS (4-1): The Cowboys, who rolled past Monterey 56-14, can get back into MBL contention with a victory over undefeated Alvarez on Saturday at 2 p.m.

11. ARAGON (4-0): The Dons rallied to beat El Camino by scoring 19 points in the fourth quarter. Aragon hosts Capuchino on Friday at 3 p.m.

12. HOLLISTER (3-2): The defending Central Coast Section Division II champion Haybalers dropped their second MBL game in three weeks, losing 37-21 to Gilroy. Hollister plays at North Salinas on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

13 (tie). ST. FRANCIS (2-4): Although the Lancers own a losing record (losses to Oak Grove, De La Salle and Los Gatos), they have posted wins over two ranked teams: Valley Christian and Riordan. St. Francis has a bye this week.

13 (tie). INDEPENDENCE (4-0): Although the 76ers compete in a C league, their strong rushing game (300 yards-per-game-average) elevates them into the poll. Independence, which scored a 44-0 victory over Santa Teresa two weeks ago, rushed for over 400 yards in a 46-12 victory over Willow Glen. The 76ers host San Jose on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

15. RIORDAN (4-1): The Crusaders suffered their first defeat of the season last week, a 31-21 loss to St. Francis. Riordan hosts St. Ignatius on Friday at 7 p.m. at Kezar Stadium.

FOUR MORE TO WATCH: Overfelt 5-0, Terra Nova 3-1, Watsonville 4-1, Wilcox 3-2.
