1. MITTY (7-0): The Monarchs made a statement with a 47-14 victory over then-undefeated Serra. Mitty closes out West Catholic Athletic League play against Bellarmine (Friday at 7 p.m. at San Jose City College), Riordan and St. Francis. Last rank: No. 1.

2. PALMA (6-0): The Chieftains beat then-undefeated Gilroy 27-7 Friday and now own the only perfect record in the Monterey Bay League. Palma plays North Monterey County on Friday at the Salinas Sports Complex at 7:30 p.m. Last rank: No. 2.

3. OAK GROVE (5-1): The Eagles cruised in their 35-6 victory over Hill and remain the team to beat in the Blossom Valley Athletic League Mount Hamilton Division. Oak Grove hosts Leland on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Last rank: No. 3.

4. LOS GATOS (6-0): The Wildcats extended their school-record unbeaten streak to 19 games and appear poised to run the table during the season. Los Gatos hosts Los Altos on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Last rank: No. 4.

5. ALVAREZ (5-0-1): The Eagles dropped into second place in the MBL after tying Salinas 17-17. Alvarez can stay in the title race with a win over Gilroy on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Last rank: No. 5.

6. SAN LORENZO VALLEY (6-0): The Cougars edged Aptos 13-12 in a Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League game and appear poised to capture their sixth consecutive league title. They host Soquel on Saturday at 2 p.m. Last rank: No. 6.

7. SALINAS (4-1-1): The Cowboys' hopes for an MBL title faltered with a 17-17 tie with Alvarez. Salinas hosts Hollister on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Last rank: No. 10.

8. VALLEY CHRISTIAN (5-1): The Warriors shut down Leigh 10-0 last weekend. Valley Christian is awaiting a season-ending showdown with Oak Grove that should determine the BVAL Mount Hamilton Division title. Saturday, the Warriors host Piedmont Hills at 1:30 p.m. Last rank: No. 8.

9. GILROY (5-1): The Mustangs' quest for an MBL title took a step back Friday with a 27-7 loss to defending champion Palma. Gilroy hosts Alvarez on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Last rank: No. 7.

10. SERRA (6-1): The Padres were overwhelmed by No. 1 Mitty 47-14, getting outscored by 27 points in the second quarter. Serra plays at No. 15 Riordan on Saturday at 1 p.m. Last rank: No. 9.

11. ARAGON (5-0): The Dons edged Capuchino 31-24 last weekend and will play Terra Nova for what could amount to the Peninsula Athletic League Bay Division championship on Friday at 3 p.m. Last rank: No. 11.

12. HOLLISTER (4-2): The Haybalers beat North Salinas 27-0. If the Haybalers hope to join the MBL championship hunt, they must win Friday at Salinas at 7:30 p.m. Last rank: No. 12.

13. ST. FRANCIS (2-4): The Lancers return after an open date and play at St. Ignatius on Saturday at 1 p.m. Last rank: No. 13 (tie).

14. INDEPENDENCE (5-0): The 76ers cruised in a 34-0 victory over San Jose. Independence hosts Mt. Pleasant on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Last rank: No. 13 (tie).

15. RIORDAN (5-1): The Crusaders, coming off a 20-7 win over St. Ignatius, host Serra in a WCAL contest Saturday at 1 p.m. Last rank: No. 15.
